I don't know about you, but it seems like to me, that the problems of our nation are mounting. These problems are not small, simple solution problems either. These problems are critical to the survival of our America as we know it. If there are solutions to the problems we are facing, they will require much sacrifice, unity and discipline on our part. Things that it seems, the majority of us could use a lot more of. I had the privilege of listening to Glenn Beck (A prominent, patriotic , LDS radio talk show host ) coming home from Provo on the radio tonight. It was his speech given in Provo last Sunday for the 4th of July Patriot Celebration. He shed much light on what our nation is going through right now. No, he didn't solve all the problems or point fingers or tell us what is wrong. He focused on "We the people." He said that those words are enlarged on our Constitution for a reason. We can't expect Washington to solve these problems. Politicians never helped when they were writing the constitution, and they won't help now. WOW! He also said that the Pilgrims who came first to America were pioneers, along with those who settled the west. He said that we too will be just as they, pioneers for the cause for righteousness and freedom. We who believe in the constitution and value the freedoms that it affords us now, will make that same great sacrifice asked of those who created it, by protecting it. When I think of all that our progenitors have done to give us what we enjoy and have today, I am embarrassed for the small sacrifice I make to be harbored in such freedom as I am. Do I have what it takes to be a freedom fighter like George Washington? No, not right this minute anyway. Yet, some small voice whispers to me that all that Glenn said in his speech was truth. We are embarking on a time that as the pioneer's of years past, will try us at every turn and cost us the greatest sacrifices. Glen then quoted the words to hymn " Come, Come, Ye Saints." Those Saints made it through, even at the cost of there very lives, remembering that "all is well, all is well." And though I may not ever be a George Washington, I am proud to be an American! I have a testimony of our constitution. I revere many of its authors as men of God. Just as Moroni or Alma. I believe that they new Jesus Christ. I only pray that when the time comes, I too will be ready to sacrifice all that is needed of me, to say that I did my part, to be able to stand among those noble saints someday. To me the gosple of Jesus Christ and the constitution go hand in hand. They compliment one another. Just as the Bible and the Book of Morman do. Either one can stand on it's own, but together, they are much stronger and testifiy of the other. Bridget
