Trouble Burning

Both Jaiden and Mom have had issues with burning food, here are their exchanged e-mails:

Jaiden to Mom:

"So,
I woke up this morning at six thirty, laid in bed for 15 min. because it was slightly cold and i really didn't want to get out of bed. but eventually I got the courage to wake up and hop in the shower. i was in the shower and the water turned ICE cold.... so i ended my shower early.... slightly frustrating. then i came back to my room and listened to a great talk by elder cook, stewardship i think its called. I was getting hungry and was think in of all the possibilities for breakfast, it was determined that i would fry me some eggs and a sausage patty and put it on some toast and enjoy a delicious sausage egg mcmuffin thing. I pulled out my new spatula and my skillet from yesterday, heat the skillet up throw on some eggs.. I had the perfect eggs, i didn't crack the yolk and there were no shells on the pan. (however they kept sliding to the one side of the stove due to it's lack of levelness, so in order to compensate for this i moved the pan half on the burner and half off, it worked well) not long after my eggs were done on one side and i had flipped them, the pan started to make billowing towers of smoke, my guess was that i didn't clean my skillet well enough from yesterdays fiasco. so i pull my eggs of with my new spatula and on the one side they are black as can be but runny as ever, i decided i'd quickly warm up my sausage patty so i threw it on the skillet and within seconds it's black too! the smoke hasn't stopped so i turn off the burner, I continue cooking my plastic coated sausage and cry as i'm trying to be a good college student. I put my bread in the toaster so that I might be able to somewhat enjoy this disastrous meal. and it comes out black too, thank goodness however it wasn't coated with a thin layer of burnt plastic, i was very happy to instead enjoy burnt toast. I wasn't looking forward to eating my "mourning" meal so I drenched the entire thing in hot sauce and prayed that i would get some nourishment out of this bad burnt black breakfast. I took my first bight into my black blob and, you'll never guess what happened the egg yolk that was completely runny popped and flew high into the air and landed all over ME, it would be one thing if it was all over our disgusting linoleum floor, it'd be an excuse for me to clean it, but no! it landed all over my brand new shirt and pants that i had just changed into for the day! it was on my face, pants arm and sleeve! ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!!! agh! so frustrating! so i finished the rest of my creation with caution at every move i made determined not to let one more thing go wrong. and i seem to have done alright!! so I pray that as i go through out the day that my luck might not continue and that i will figure out how to get egg yolk out of a shirt! best of luck in your ventures today! much love,
-jaiden
PS I've sent a picture of my black eggs and sausage.....don't laugh too hard!"

Mom's to Jaiden:

"I hope that you are laughing at yourself. God has a great sense of humor and we need to learn to not take ourselves to seriously. It's just to bad that sometimes we have to eat our mistakes. Such is life! In fact, well it doesn't matter how experienced you are or how long you have lived on this great earth, we are human and keep messing up. Love you and miss you. Mom.
PS Don't throw the pan away!
I'm not sure that you want my advice. Esp. if you see what I am eating for dinner. Now you know where you get it from. ( And no, I didn't burn it just to make you feel better.) Remember that electric stoves are different than gas and that no two stoves are the same. Start out on a low to medium heat. You seldom should be on a high setting. Don't leave the spatula in the pan while it is cooking, and somethings a mother just can't teach because you just have to experience it all for yourself. Thank you, dear son for sharing with me such a moment as this. I love you. Keep you chin up, and your food light brown! :)"

What fun. Sounds like the food will just get better from here. Good luck to both cooks!

That is SO FUNNY!!! I love it. As for the cooking on high, Jaiden should listen to his mother. Alan cooks everything on high (I don't know how he manages to not burn everything because he really doesn't pay attention to it while cooking). It you keep burning things you are welcome to come over to our house and eat left overs :).

Love you guys.
